The plain Cross in the background, the Cross of the Christian, dating to the time of Constantine, represents the Christian Church throughout the world; the Chi Rho, the sacred monogram of Christ, superimposed on the Cross, indicates that Christ Church Parish is Part of the worldwide Christian Church; the wavy lines are symbolic of the waves of the sea and a part of the Diocesan Seal; they also represent the nearness of the Bay; the three trees are symbolic of our hard maple trees indigenous to a Ridge or Height; thus is interpreted Christ Church Bay Ridge; Long Island, in the Diocese of the Episcopal Church of Long Island.
